he number of homes sold in the High Desert in January dropped 16.6 percent from the previous month, while prices remained virtually flat. The average price for the 368 homes sold in January was $58.87 per square foot, and the average home sold in the desert cost $114,452, according to Victor Valley Multiple Listing Service data compiled by Larry Trombley of Century 21 Rose Realty in Hesperia. The local average price has been hovering around $60 per square foot since 2009, and experts believe the trend will continue this year. The average home sold for $183.19 per square foot in January 2006. Reflecting an influx of investors, cash sales accounted for 44 percent of all the January sales. Home inventory in January was down 8.8 percent from December at 1,031 properties, of which nearly 30 percent were bank-owned. Trombley’s January figures reflect sales occurring from about Nov. 15 through Dec. 15 because the average escrow takes about 45 days.

It seems to me that there are plenty of people out there that want to buy a home. The problem seems to be that the majority of them do not qualify for a loan. What can be done about this? I tried to go to a company that promised to FIX my credit. After 7 months the only thing that they did was to take about $400 dollars and actually lower my score. What can be done? Do you go about the arduous task of fixing your own credit or pay someone? There has to be a better way right. Well I have talked to several Mortgage companies and they informed me that if you plan on using them for the loan they actually have people to help you with your credit. The fact of the matter is that if your credit is poor you need to:

1. Pay the people that you owe.

2. Monitor your credit reports(all three of them)

3. Look for things that are being reported incorectly.

4. Dispute anything that is incorret on all three reports.

5. Pay all of your bills on time from now on.

6. Do not open any new lines of credit while in the process of looking for a home.

Eventually if you do these things your credit should go up. Just remember that your credit is the picture of you that banks and companies that extend credit use to judge your worthyness. If you want to be trusted and get that home or car or whatever, PAY YOUR BILLS!

     It seems that Squatters have come to the High Desert!  What these people do is look for a home or property that is empty and occupy it.  This is obviously illegal; however, it seems that there is nothing that can be done.  The police say that it is a civil matter.  So guess what happens now.  Start your eviction proceedings.  WOW!  I say that there are things that you can do.  Contact the deputy district attorney for San Bernadino County.  He will try to help.  If you need them out faster than that, you can always pump bees into the house!(Just Kidding)  Some of these intruders have streamlined the process by demanding that you pay them a fee to leave.  Funny that you should have to pay them when they are not even legally supposed to be there!  Well there is always bull dozing your property.  LOL.
